What we do

NHS Leeds is responsible for:

• commissioning a comprehensive and equitable range of high quality responsive and efficient services, within allocated resources;
• working with Leeds City Council to engage with the local population to improve health and wellbeing, reduce inequalities and promote sustainable community development;
• ensuring a smooth transition to the new commissioning landscape by March 2013, working closely with our local Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs).

The organisation is no longer responsible for the direct provision of community-based services.  Within Leeds this is carried out by Leeds Community Healthcare.

As part of the national NHS reforms, during 2012/13 we will be transferring our responsibilities over to a number of new organisations, including the three CCGs in Leeds, Leeds City Council (Public Health), a West Yorkshire Commissioning Support Service, and the Local Area Team of the NHS Commissioning Board Authority.
