About us

Voluntary sector

NHS Leeds works in partnership with a wide variety of patients, carers, members of the public, the voluntary, community and faith sectors (VCFS), clinicians and other health and social care professionals to inform our commissioning and ensure accountability for services provided.

NHS Leeds works in partnership with the VCFS in a number of ways: firstly, along with Leeds City Council, it funds several infrastructure organisations (such as Leeds Voice, the Leeds Health Forum, Leeds Involvement Project and Volition, and the Mental Health Forum), to ensure that there is a direct and easy communication between the NHS and partners working with local people on health and wellbeing.

Secondly, it commissions a range of services, for example support for people with mental health problems or community drug treatment services, from VCFS agencies.

Thirdly, it supports community engagement and empowerment for the most deprived communities and groups in Leeds through a mixture of grants and Service Level Agreements. This work also connects to public involvement activity, particularly for ‘seldom heard, seldom seen’ groups of people.

NHS Leeds values the creativity and commitment of VCFS partners both in reaching and supporting some of our most vulnerable residents as well as in delivering excellent quality services.

NHS Leeds is a signatory to the Compact for Leeds 2010.  This is a charter to strengthen relationships between the public and VCFS partners to deliver the best possible outcomes for the people of Leeds.
