NHS Leeds asks College students: 'have you got the sex factor?'
25 November 2009
College students across Leeds are being asked if they ‘have the sex factor’ as part of an innovative campaign to raise awareness of sexual health among young people.

NHS Leeds’s Sexual Health Team will be visiting colleges across the city as part of the ‘sex factor’ tour. The tour will kick off on Monday 30 November and runs until Wednesday 16th December. Those wanting to attend the tour will have to be quick as there will only be 12 dates available.

As part of the tour students from four colleges in the city will have the chance to get a free Chlamydia test. As an added bonus students will also get a specially designed pair of leedssexualhealth.com boxer shorts with a special condom pouch. Everyone taking part in the event will also be given a Sex Factor VIP Card with details of how to enter a prize draw to win an iPod Touch as well as a year’s supply of condoms.

Anyone who comes along to the tour will get a chance to have their picture taken and posted on leedssexualhealth.com’s Facebook page to prove that they do indeed have the sex factor. Young people coming along to the tour will also be able to find out more about sexual health services available in the city over Christmas and New Year.

Owen Brigstock-Barron, Health Improvement Specialist - Sexual Health and Young People for NHS Leeds, says: “We wanted to run the tour before Christmas so that young people don’t end up with an unwanted present over the festive period. We’ve already had massive interest from college sites and have had to add further dates. The tour is designed to be fun and interactive so that people will learn more about the importance of sexual health.

“We would like to invite college students across the city to join us during our tour. They can visit our website www.leedssexualhealth.com for tour dates, more information about sexual health services available to them across the city, changes in opening times and how they can get tested for sexually transmitted infections.”

The tour will begin on Monday 30 November – the full tour dates are available online at www.leedssexualhealth.com. To find your nearest Contraception and Sexual Health (CaSH) clinic please telephone 0113 30 57884.
