Statement of Involvement
The NHS now has a duty to report on consultations about commissioning and other decisions. Over the last year many of you have shared with us your thoughts and experiences of using our services. The ‘Statement of Involvement’ gives us, for the first time, the opportunity to tell you what consultations have happened over the last year, what you told us in those consultations and what we have done with the comments you made. You can download a copy of the latest Statement of Involvement for 1st April 2010 – 31st March 2011 here or from the related download section below (where the report for 2009-2010 is also available). A paper copy of the report is available to view in the Reception Area at NHS Leeds, North West House, West Park Ring Road, Leeds, LS16 6QG. You can also contact NHS Leeds Patient Advice and Liaison Service to obtain a copy of the report on freephone 0800 0525 270 or via email pals@nhsleeds.nhs.uk

Patient Involvement in your GP Practice
Some GP practices in Leeds have established Patient Forums to ensure they can involve patients in their practice. Involving and seeking the views of patients and carers improves communication by keeping the local people informed of any changes and gathering feedback on existing services. Patient forums can help to conduct patient surveys and to gather views from the local community; they can offer views on proposed new services and help to gather evidence for and influence local commissioning decisions.
Not all practices will have a Patient Forum, but NHS Leeds offers support to the practices that do and is currently working with more practices to help them establish new groups. Why not speak to your GP or practice manager to see if your practice has a forum or is thinking of one for the future.
