General advice and information

The Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) can provide confidential help, advice, information and guidance on all aspects of healthcare.

The PALS service can provide:

  • confidential advice and support to patients, families and their carers;
  • information on the NHS and health related problems;
  • confidential assistance in resolving problems and concerns quickly;
  • explanations of the complaints procedures and how to get in touch with someone who can help; and
  • information on how you can get more involved in your own health care and the NHS locally.

If you get in touch with PALS we can:

  • try and negotiate solutions for you;
  • provide you with the information you need;
  • deal with concerns quickly and thoroughly;
  • identify any necessary action to improve services and prevent the same problems happening again; and
  • help sort out problems quickly on your behalf.

PALS can provide you with different types of information such as:

  • directing you to support groups locally and nationally;
  • providing information about how to register with a GP or NHS dentist
  • explaining how Choose and Book works for appointments at different hospitals;
  • acting as a point of contact for local events; and
  • signposting you to the right departments to find out information.

Please note the PALS team cannot provide medical advice. For medical enquiries please contact NHS Direct on 0845 46 47.
