A&E or 999

Every year, a large number of people attend A&E to get treatment for health complaints which could be treated elsewhere. Some have even turned up with broken false nails or paper cuts.

Accident and Emergency departments provide immediate emergency care for people who show the symptoms of serious illness or are badly injured.

If you call 999 for an ambulance, the telephone advisor will arrange for appropriate assistance for the patient based on the information provided about their illness or injury.
